AVOIDING DAMAGE TO UNDERGROUND ASSETS

CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY

Damages caused to buried services, when undertaking excavation for general utility work by a contractor, can cause substantial problems for them, which can then lead to injury and in extreme cases sometimes death.

Any HSE inspector will expect plans or other suitable information about the location of buried services to be obtained before any excavation starts. See HSE Guideline publication HSG47
